Senator Mark Duffy has called for the swimming pool at Aras Attracta in Swinford to be reopened.
The pool has been closed for a number of years, and locals are having to go to Claremorris or Ballina as their closest alternatives.
Senator Duffy says that people in Swinford and the surrounding areas should have a facility at their doorstep.
He says that the HSÉ own the facility, but encourages a community-led initiative to get it open again.
