A Mayo Councillor is calling for the hedge-cutting season to be extended by a fortnight at least to allow further tidying up post the winter storms.

The call has been made by Louisburgh based Independent Ireland Councillor Chris Maxwell who says that in his area this week a school bus had its mirrors damaged where bushes are coming out further onto the roads after the heavy winds.

The hedge cutting season is due to close this Friday and councillor Maxwell says that with all the damage after the storm it is imperative that the deadline is extended.

Cllr. Maxwell has been giving more details to Midwest News.
