There are calls for extra post boxes to reduce traffic congestion around Westport, with a letter sent to An Post concerning the matter.
The move comes after the Westport Post Office relocation from the North Mall, to a new premises in Kavanagh’s SuperValu on Shop Street.
Speaking at the July Monthly Meeting of Westport/Belmullet Municipal District, Fine Gael Councillor Peter Flynn noted the town was extremely lucky to still have a post office today, but proposed An Post consider installing additional boxes on the Ballinrobe Road and the Newport Road/Castlebar Road.
