A TD has called for University Hospital Galway to be designated as Critical Infrastructure under the Critical Infrastructure Bill in order to speed up its redevelopment.
Earlier this year, Galway County Councillors made a similar call when a motion was passed by representatives.
Now, Fine Gael TD for Galway West Seán Kyne has said that the people of Galway and the wider West and North West region deserve healthcare infrastructure that is fit for the 21st century and capable of meeting the growing demands of the population.
Today, figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation showed that there are 64 patients waiting on trolleys at University Hospital Galway.
