A Sligo councillor has called on the Minister for Agriculture to urgently prioritise the processing of ACRES applications, particularly where payments are delayed.
Councillor Marie Casserly tabled the motion at the recent meeting of Sligo County Council where she highlighted the unacceptable delays faced by many farmers, with some waiting up to two years for payments on correctly submitted applications.
She says that delays like this are unreasonable and place a financial strain on farmers who are simply seeking to access the supports they are entitled to.
