Uisce Eireann say a significant upgrade is on the way for Clare Island’s water supply with works to begin this Spring.

“The investment will improve the quality of drinking water for the island and reduce the risk of Boil Water Notices”.

The company’s  project manager Michael McHugh explained that the project will include the installation of new UV and granular activated carbon (GAC) secondary filtration unit system.

Investigative works were carried out on the island earlier this year with the project expected to get underway within weeks.

In recent months Uisce Éireann say it has made significant improvements in safeguarding the island’s water supply with the Find and Fix team detecting and repairing leaks.

Uisce Eireann has thanked the islanders for their support while it continues to seek out and repair the leaks and ask that any leaks on the public network be reported to it on 1800 278 278 or online at Report a Leak
