The May Monthly Meeting of Mayo County Council is taking place today in Bonniconlon.
It’s a fitting day for Cathaoirleach of Mayo County Council, Fine Gael’s John O’Hara, who is a native of Bonniconlon.
The meeting was adjourned for the first 15 minutes earlier as a mark of respect to two former councillors who passed away recently.
Former Bonniconlon cllr Bridie Greavy was remembered, following her passing last week, and also former Minister, TD and Senator Paddy O’Toole who died yesterday evening.
Tributes were paid to both of them.
Sympathies were also extended to the family of Garda Kevin Flatley, who died while on duty in Dublin yesterday.
The community of Bonniconlon were delighted to welcome the council meeting to the village this afternoon.
