Atlantic Technological University (ATU) is appealing to homeowners in Galway, Mayo, Sligo and Donegal to consider offering a spare room in their home to a student for the upcoming academic year, under the national Rent-a-Room scheme.
The university, which has nine campuses across Sligo, Galway, Donegal and Mayo, says the limited availability of accommodation continues to place significant pressure on students, particularly first-year students and those relocating to being or continue their studies.
ATU is encouraging individuals, couples, and families with an available bedroom to consider hosting a student. Under the national Rent-a-Room Relief scheme, homeowners may be able to earn up to €14,000 per year, tax-free, subject to Revenue conditions.
