A new all-island campaign is being launched to reduce the risk of deaths and serious injuries involving construction machinery, vehicles and plant.

The Health and Safety Authority, alongside the Health and Safety Executive Northern Ireland and the Construction Industry Federation, is running the two-week People-Plant-Safe Separation Campaign.

It runs until September 18th and will focus on improving safety where workers and moving machinery operate in the same areas.

Figures show that 25 people lost their lives in construction-related incidents involving plant, machinery or vehicles across the island between 2016 and 2025.

As part of the campaign, targeted inspections will be carried out, looking at the safe operation of machinery, the responsibilities of plant operators and how risks between people and equipment are being managed.

The campaign will also include awareness activities aimed at improving safety standards across the construction sector.
