Gardai from the Mayo Roads Policing Unit carried out speed checkpoints on the N17 as part of the extra traffic travelling for the car rally in Donegal over the weekend.
One of the drivers they detected for speeding was also arrested on suspicion of drunk driving.
Another one of the drivers detected speeding over the weekend also had no insurance and that driver had their vehicle impounded.
Gardai say they always maintain a presence on the roads but are urging motorists not to speed or drive in a dangerous manner and to have their documentation in order.
