A community-led project has got underway in Achill this week, with the intention of helping out local species of birds in protecting their eggs and raising their young in a safe manner.
Breeding Waves EIP and LIFE on Machair have come together to install a 1.6km temporary electric predator exclusion fence.
The site is located at The Valley, Sandybanks on Achill Island.
Jackie Hunt is an ecologist with LIFE on Machair, and has been at the site this week as the construction process is being completed.
