Latest housing plan has no specific targets

The government has signed off on the country’s latest housing plan.

“Delivering Homes, Building Communities”, has pledged that a minimum of 300,000 new homes will be built by 2030, with 72,000 of those being social houses.

Taoiseach Micheál Martin has said the plan will be the most unprecedented investment in housing ever. However, while the document lays out housing aims, there are no targets promised in the strategy. Opposition parties have said the plan is “just rejigged from earlier plans” and will not tackle the homelessness crisis.

Mayo Fine Gael Deputy and Minister Alan Dillon has said the strategy is  a “landmark investment” in housing, and believes it will bring about benefits for families and communities in the county.
