427 patients are waiting for a bed in the country’s hospitals.
278 are waiting in the Emergency Department while 149 are in wards elsewhere in the hospital.
University Hospital Limerick has the highest number wating at 94.
That’s followed by University Hospital Galway with 52.
There are 40 patients on trolleys at Sligo University Hospital and 17 at Mayo University Hospital.
The UK will impose a similar ban later this year
