Safety enhancement works will get underway shortly on a notorious dangerous road junction in Ballyhaunis, under the railway bridge.

It’s a temporary measure to address the serious road safety issues that the route presents for pupils of Scoil Iosa and all road users.

Local councillor Alma Gallagher has been working with Mayo County Council and Transport Infrastructure Ireland to immediately upgrade the crash barrier and footpath under the bridge and a contractor has now been appointed, with the works to get underway in the first half of this year.
