30 new jobs are set to be created in East Mayo.

The sale of two sites at Swinford Industrial Park to a local business has been approved at municipal level, paving the way for the creation of up to 30 jobs.

The sale will be fully ratified at next Monday’s full meeting of Mayo County Council.

Local Fianna Fail Councillor Adrian Forkan was happy to propose the disposal of sites 17 and 18 in the industrial estate to local firm MG Plant Spares Ltd, a company operated by the Gleeson family, when the matter came before a Claremorris-Swinford Municipal District meeting yesterday.

A deposit had been paid by the company some time ago but it was held up due to legalities which have now been sorted.

Cllr. Forkan has been giving more details to Midwest Radio’s Michael D. McAndrew.
