This Sunday (9th) at 3pm in Tierney’s of Foxhall, a presentation will take place of a cheque, in excess of 21,000 euro, in memory of the late Caylum Flynn.

Caylum died in a tragic accident some years ago and this weekend he would have celebrated his 18th birthday, and in his memory his family organised the fundraiser.

The monies will be presented to Hollymount Community First Responders

It will fund a number of new defibrillators replacing older units in the area, and all Hollymount Community First Responders will now be equipped with a personal pocket AED. An AED is an Automated External Defibrillator, a portable electronic device used to check a person’s heart rhythm and gives an electric shock to restart a normal heartbeat during sudden cardiac arrest.

Hollymount Community First Responders cover a 10.5 km area, stretching from Hollymount Hall and taking in Claremorris, Ballinrobe, Kilmaine, Carnacon and Kilconnolly .

All Ireland winning Mayo Footballers Enda Hession and Eoin McGreal  will be in attendance on Sunday afternoon.

Darren Forde is Coordinator of Hollymount Community First Responders and he gave more details to Midwest News Editor Teresa O’Malley…
