Fans of Roscommon GAA are in mourning following the passing of former senior football captain Adrian O’Sullivan.
He died peacefully on Thursday in the loving care of the staff at Abbey Haven Nursing Home.
A native of Castlerea, Adrian won four Roscommon Senior Football Championships with Castlerea St. Kevin’s.
He also has the distinction of being the only person to captain Roscommon to Connacht minor, U21 and senior titles in 1965, 1969 and 1972 respectively.
Adrian will be remembered during a minutes silence prior to tomorrow’s Roscommon Senior Football Final between Roscommon Gaels and Padraig Pearses in Dr. Hyde Park.
Among those paying tribute, Roscommon GAA Chairperson Brian Carroll said:
“On behalf of Roscommon GAA, I extend my deepest sympathy on the sad passing of Adrian to his brother Declan, sister Mary, sisters-in-law Anita and Karen, nieces Clare and Caroline and his extended family.”
Adrian will repose at Gaynor’s Funeral Home, Castlerea on Monday evening from 5:00pm – 7:00pm with removal afterwards to St. Patrick’s Church, Castlerea.
Mass of the Resurrection will take place on Tuesday at 11:00am, with burial afterwards in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
