Mayo GAA has confirmed this evening that the Connacht Gold Senior Football Final between Knockmore GAA and Ballina Stephenities GAA scheduled for this Sunday, October 20th WILL NOT go ahead due to the Met Éireann Status Orange wind warning that has been issued for Mayo on Sunday.
Following an emergency Mayo GAA County Board officers meeting this evening, Mayo GAA Cathaoirleach Seamus Tuohy said player and supporter safety are the priorities and postposing the County Football Final this Sunday is the correct decision for all concerned.
After consultation with both clubs, the Mayo GAA CCC has now rescheduled the game for next Saturday, October 26th at 7pm in Hastings Insurance MacHale Park.
The Senior Football Final will now be played as a double header.
The Mayo GAA Treanlaur Catering Junior Football final will be moved to 4:45pm on the same evening.
Seamus Tuohy thanked both clubs for their understanding stating it is the correct decision for all involved. He also confirmed that all tickets purchased for the game and for the Mayo GAA TV live stream would be honoured next Saturday and supporters do not have to rebook.
