Castlebar Town progressed to the Mayo Under 19 Girls Cup semi-finals with a 3-2 win over Westport United on Sunday.
The game was level at the break, with a goal apiece in the last 15 minutes of the first half. And after they exchanged goals again in the second, the tie was to be decided by a 71st minute penalty, converted by Sorcha Munnelly, as home side Town booked their place in the semi-final where they will face Killala.
Three Under 17 teams saw action in the Connaught Cup over the weekend, with Castlebar Celtic winning their local derby over Ballyvary Blue Bombers.
Ballyglass and Kiltimagh Knock United were both defeated by Galway opposition, with an understrength KK playing out an epic battle with many people's favourites, Athenry, under lights on Friday, coming back from 3-0 down to force extra time, but ultimately losing out.
