Mike Solan former Mayo All-Ireland U21 winning manager, is set to be appointed the new manager of the Longford senior footballers.
Ballaghaderreen native Solan's was ratified by the Longford Executive Committee at a meeting last night.
Along with winning the 2016 all-Ireland U21 title he reached a further final in 2018, and won Connacht championships in both of those seasons.
He had been part of Andy Moran's backroom team with the Leitrim senior footballers in 2022 & 2023 before stepping away for the season just past due to work commitments
In Sligo he is currently over the Toulestrane senior footballers, and is a highly regarded manager within the province of Connacht.
He replaces Paddy Christie and has been handed a three-year term with Longford who finished bottom of their Tailteann cup group this season.
