In handball, today is Day 4 of the World Wallball Championships hosted by Ireland.
More than 800 players from 12 countries have descended upon the University of Limerick campus where 9 specially constructed One-Wall courts have been installed in the Sports Arena.
Over 1000 matches will be played across 6 days in Singles and Doubles competitions from juveniles up to Over-60s.
There is very significant Mayo interest in the World Championships, with 18 players from the county involved.
Swinford's Ollie Cassidy is going strong and has made his way into the Mens Masters Singles quarter-final on court this morning. Ollie will also be in Doubles action later today alongside experienced partner Dessie Keegan from the Claremorris club.
Also playing today in Doubles will be Cuileann Bourke of Belcarra, who teams up with Armagh's Cailíosa Ní Dhúill to take on top American pairing Suly Ruiz and Melissa Sky in the Ladies Open.
Cuileann is also through to the quarter-finals of the Ladies A Singles competition following her win over Kildare's Abby Tarrant yesterday.
In the Mens A Singles, Newport's Ian McLoughlin lost out to Canadian Jerome Santerre yesterday and Claremorris' Paddy Murphy fell to Waterford man Anthony Fitzgerald after a closely fought battle.
Paddy will team up today with his clubman Niall Joyce in the Mens A Doubles quarter-final against Cork opposition.
In the Mens B Singles, Niall Joyce and Aughagower's Shane Heraty have both successfully navigated their way through to the quarter-finals, where they will meet Antrim's Stephen O'Neill and Cork's Sam Dunning respectively.
In Golden Masters, Michael Lang of Tourmakeady put in a gutsy performance against All-Ireland Champion Paul Graham yesterday, but the Belfast man's class and experience saw him through as expected to the Last 8, where he meets Tom Sweeney of Ballinrobe today in a much-anticipated repeat of their recent All-Ireland Final encounter.
Tom Sweeney is also through to Golden Masters Doubles quarter-final with partner Keith Donnellan from Abbeyknockmoy.
In Mens B Doubles, Shane Heraty and Swinford's Chris Gavaghan will take on the formidable American pairing of Mark Ciprut and Jared Vale this evening.
Mark Heneghan of Tourmakeady is having a good week and is through to the Last 8 of the Mens C Plate against Willie Quaile from Offaly.
Belcarra's Aodhán Tonra acquitted himself well yesterday against Collooney's Travis Gibbons in the Boys U-17 competition, but the powerful young Sligo man progressed to the next round.
Darragh Ruane, formerly of Belcarra but now representing Middle East GAA, had to concede his Singles game yesterday due to injury but is hopeful of making a recovery to play in Doubles.
