Armagh have won the All Ireland Senior Football Championship.
Kieran McGeeney’s side battled their way to victory over Galway, with just one point separating them in the finish.
Galway were without their captain Sean Kelly from the off due to injury, and Rob Finnerty suffered injury and lasted just 10 minutes.
The sides were level on five occasions in the first half, with the score 0-6 each at the break.
Ten minutes into the second half, Galway were ahead by a point but Armagh got the game’s definitive score on 46 minutes.
A dangerous ball came across Conor Gleeson’s goal which was fisted to the net by Armagh full back Aaron McKay.
Cillian McDaid brought Galway back to within a point late on, but despite point scoring chances for Shane Walsh, Dylan McHugh and Paul Conroy, the Tribesmen couldn’t get over the line.
Armagh have won their first All Ireland since 2002, their second in history, while for Padraic Joyce’s Galway they will go into 2025 still in search of Sam Maguire.
