Mayo were comfortable winners over Cavan this evening in their first round clash in the All Ireland SFC.
Ryan O’Donoghue continued his scoring form with 0-7 for Kevin McStay’s side.
Cillian O’Connor returned to the starting team with 0-4 to his name, as Darren McHale hit 0-2 on his comeback.
Mayo were four up at the break despite dominating the first period.
Cavan, without their main scoring threat of Paddy Lynch, kept within touching distance before Mayo pulled away as the second half progressed.
Next up for Mayo is a meeting with Roscommon in a fortnight’s time.
