Mayo have got their defence of the Allianz NFL Division One title off to a good start with victory over Galway.
Kevin McStay’s side were four up at half time thanks to Eoghan McLaughlin’s left footed goal from a difficult angle.
Paul Towey impressed off the bench in the second half with two good scores to keep Galway at arm’s length.
Cillian O’Connor came on late in the game, and after debutant Diarmuid Duffy was fouled, the Ballintubber man slotted home a penalty for the second goal.
The scoring was rounded off by Jack Carney in the final moments.
Eight points separated the sides in the end after what was a disappointing Galway performance.
The Ballintubber Store and Service Station Man of the Match was wing forward Fergal Boland from Aghamore, who was impressive throughout and got the game’s opening point.
