The PDC World Darts Championship captured the imagination of many new darting fans, and made followers fall in love with the game all over again.
To kick start the new season, the PDC Qualifying School gets into full swing today for the First Stage of the qualification to earn a spot on the PDC Tour.
Three time world champion John Part, former World Grand Prix & UK Open champion Robert Thornton, World Championship runner-up Kevin Painter and women’s trailblazer Fallon Sherrock are among those that will be competing for the lucrative spots on the tour.
There’s also two Mayo men that will be hopeful of obtaining a spot.
Roundfort’s Conor Heneghan and Castlebar’s Ultan McDyer are both in Milton Keynes for the event.
Conor’s success over the past couple of years has been well documented, which includes hitting two nine-dart finishes in the Modus Super Series.
Mayo player Ultan’s local impact of the previous two years has also been highlighted, and will hope to be successful on his Q-school debut.
Thus far this morning, Ultan beat Englishman Samuel Palmer 5-2, while Conor lost out 5-3 to Nicholas Ellis.
Both players’ progress can be followed on DartConnect.
