Mayo FC have officially launched their brand new club crest this evening.
Iconic symbols are ingrained in this new design, with the history, culture and influences of the county included.
Among the features of the new crest are the bows of a boat, which symbolize the seafaring prowess of Gráínne Mhaol, one of the most iconic and powerful women to come from the county.
The nine lines across the bow represent the nine baronies of Mayo – Erris, Burrishoole, Carra, Costello, Clanmorris, Gallen, Kilmaine, Murrisk and Tirawley.
Croagh Patrick is also incorporated into the crest, symbolising a place of pilgrimage for those who search for strength and hope.
The path up Croagh Patrick embodies the journey that Mayo FC are about to embark on, with huge difficulties guaranteed in what will be a hugely inspiring journey.
