Galway United are delighted to announce that Julie-Ann Russell has re-signed for the senior women’s team ahead of the 2024 season.
The 32-year-old attacker has committed to The Tribeswomen for 2024 and heads into her second season at the club.
The Galway native signed back in August after taking time away from the game due to maternity leave, she made her debut for United in October in a 3-0 victory against Treaty United.
Russell began her senior career with Salthill Devon before travelling stateside to play for Los Angeles Strikers. She then returned to Ireland to play for Peamount United where she won the league in 2012. In 2014, she transferred to UCD Waves before travelling to Australia to play for Sydney University and Western Sydney Wanderers. She returned home again in 2021 to play for Galway WFC before signing for Galway United in August of this year. Internationally, she has picked up 59 caps for the Republic of Ireland.
Individually, Russell picked up Women’s National League Player of the Year in 2013-14 and in the following year, she was named FAI Senior Women’s Soccer International Player of the Year.
