Calor Super Cup Final
Ballina Town v Westport United – Sun 12pm – Solar 21 Park
The curtain comes down on the Junior league season on Sunday afternoon when Ballina Town meet Westport United in the Calor Super Cup Final
These two sides are no strangers to cup finals in Solar 21 Park but it’s their first meeting against each other in the most prestigious cup competition in the game in the county. Westport were victorious on their last visit to Mayo League headquarters when they won the Westaro Cup in July and Kevin McNamara’s side will be confident that they can end the season with another cup in their trophy cabinet. Westport are unbeaten in all competitions since the middle of June with ten wins in eleven games including cup wins over Conn Rangers and Moy Villa.
Ballina have been runners up in the Super League for the past three seasons but have become cup specialists in recent years with their last success coming against Westport United in the Westaro Cup last season. They also won three Calor Super Cup titles in a row from 2017 to 2019 so they are no strangers to success in Solar 21 Park.
Midwest Radio Sport have been speaking to both camps ahead of the final.
Westport United goalkeeper Gary Cunningham is really looking forward to coming up against their rivals once again.
Ballina Town's goal scoring machine Benny Lavelle who has thirty goals in all competitions so far this season has also been speaking to Michael D. ahead of Sunday's Cup Final.
