Last weekend saw the return of the Irish Pool tour to the Great National Hotel in Ballina for the second ranking event of the season.
Two young Mayo players enjoyed success as Danny Feehan (Westport) claimed the U23 title and Dermot Kelly (Killawalla) won in the U15 grade.
Kelly got the better of James Brennan (Balla) in the final in an all Mayo pairing.
In the main tour, Declan Hough (Ballaghaderreen) and Sean Conway (Swinford) make the quarter finals while Jarlath Mellett (Claremorris) is due to play in the Challenger final at the next event in Limerick.
In the U18 event there were several Mayo players in action with Padraic Coyle reaching the semi finals losing out to Denny Bookle, while Leo Reuland also put in a good performance to make the last eight.
In the ladies’ section Edina Mulrennan (Balla) made it to the semi finals of the plate competition.
In a post on their Facebook page, the Mayo Pool Association congratulated all local players who competed and said it was great to see the ranking event return to Mayo.
