Thirteen Mayo AC runners competed in the recent third annual Swinford AC ¾ Marathon, relay and 5k. (September 2)
The ¾ marathon is approximately 31.7k or 19.6 miles.
Michael Rocke led them home in a great time 2:09.30 in 8th place overall. He ran 1:22.51 in the previous week in Tullamore half marathon . Next acrosd the line was Damien Finnegan 2:41.10.
The other club finishers were Dee Finnegan, 2:49.23, Tom McNicholas 2:54.15, Andy Neary 3:05.39, Justin McDonagh 3:27.07, Yvonne Coyne 3:33.05.
In the 5k race London-based Stephen Monaghan finished fifth in 18:43. Next home was Padraig Cunnane 24th in 22:28, followed by Mags Glavey in a brilliant 23:43, and 7th woman – in great form after her National silver medal winning W70 half-marathon in Tullamore - Colette McTigue 31:52, Loretta Caulfield 32:02, Allison Cunnane 34:01 .
On Sunday morning (September 3) Craughwell AC hosted their annual 10 mile and 10k races.
Well done to three Mayo AC runners: Ray Clarke 71:19 3rd M50, Dee Corcoran 75:15 4th F40, Stephen Skillington 79:30.
10 mile race winner was Abas Edris Castlegar AC 53:49, first woman Amy Schanz Peninsula Distance Club (US) 59:28
