Lake District athletes had yet another outing in Tullamore for days 2 and 3 of the All-Ireland Juvenile Championships. Both days were full of very strong performances by all of the LDAC athletes.
Up first on Saturday last was Rory Wilson in the U14 boys’ javelin where he finished a strong performance with a best throw of 31.55m.
Up next was Laura Cusack in the girls U17 Shot putt and putting in another good performance to finish 10th overall.
Darragh Morrin was in the boys U16 Long jump and finished 8th with a best jump of 4.75m.
This was Darragh’s first time representing the club at National level and he gained valuable experience.
To close out Saturday's event Oisin Joyce continuing his strong performances of the season was last to compete.
Oisin ended his juvenile career with a gold medal in the U19 Boys Javelin with a new personal best throw of 69.43m.
Oisin’s throw also was a new championship record by over 10m, the previous record of 58.63m stood since 2007.
Day 2 of the championships was definitely an exciting one and a great way for some of the athletes to finish out their seasons!
Day 3 of the All-Ireland Championships also didn’t disappoint with some more outstanding performances by the LDAC athletes.
Aaron Crowley kicked off the day with a bronze medal in the U17 Boys javelin, adding to his gold medal in the schools All Irelands.
Ben Place also finished 6th in the same competition.
Seamus Burke was also competing in the U15 boys 1500m and he finished 11th with a time of 4.43.
Alan Lydon competed in the U16 boys High jump and finished 6th with a best jump of 1.55m.
Rhianna Waters Moran finished 4th in the U17 girls javelin with a throw of 34.97m.
Liam Lynch adding to his success from the Javelin All Ireland 2 weekends ago won a bronze medal in the U18 Boys shot putt with a best throw of 11.98m.
Then to finish a very successful weekend for the club Barry Langan also won gold in the U16 boys Javelin with a best throw of 47.98m.
This weekend was the final weekend of competing for all the LDAC juvenile athletes and all the LDAC athletes have earned a well-deserved break after a long successful season.
