Manulla find themselves in a good position to possibly leapfrog to the top of the Mayo Women's Football League after the two teams ahead of them on the table drew at the weekend.
With just a solitary match still to be played (Manulla v Ballinrobe) in the first half of the league, before it splits into two divisions, it's proving very competitive at the top end of the table where leaders Castlebar Town are on 23 points, with Swinford on 22, same as Manulla, who have that game in hand.
Town and Swinford played out a scoreless draw on Friday night at the east Mayo club's grounds in Cloonlara in the only game of the weekend.
That's two draws on the trot for the unbeaten Castlebar ladies, having drawn 2-2 with Manulla previously.
Manulla have to be judged favourites going into their tie against fourth from the bottom Ballinrobe next weekend. A win for 'Robe would move them level on points with Conn Rangers on 12 points.
On June 23 the league will be splitting into Division 1 and Division 2, with the final make up for both to be confirmed next Friday.
