Two Sligo Rovers players scored for the Republic of Ireland schoolboys in their 2-1 victory over Northern Ireland in Belfast last night.
Eli Rooney from Summerhill College opened the scoring on 13 minutes and Niall Holohan of Carrick-on-Shannon Community School netted the winner after Northern Ireland leveled matters on 24 minutes.
Both players started alongside Sligo Rovers under-19 teammate Daniel Kelly who is a student at Rice College in Westport.
It was the first win of the 2023 Centenary Shield for the Republic of Ireland who finish their competition with one draw, 2 defeats and a win.
