Galway pipped Mayo by a single point in today's Lidl Ladies National Football League game.
Tara Needham got the first score of the game, hitting the back of the net after 12 minutes.
Roisin Leonard hit back with four points for Galway, and ended up with five for the day.
Galway held a one point lead at half time, which they stretched to three five minutes into the second half.
Minutes later, and Mayo hit the net again with Rachel Kearns scoring - she finished up with 1-2 on the day.
Shauna Howley gave Mayo the lead five minutes later, before Galway clawed their way back.
In tough conditions, Galway retained the lead as Kate Slevin hit two frees.
Ailbhe Daveron extended the Galway lead to three points, before two Rachel Kearns points left one between the sides in the dying stages.
In the end, Michael Moyles' side couldn't find an equaliser and Galway walked away with the points.
