DCU Dóchas Éireann and UL square off in today’s Yoplait Ladies HEC O’Connor Cup final in the University of Galway Air Dome at the Connacht GAA Centre of Excellence.
Both sides recorded 7-14 in yesterday’s semi finals.
UL ran out 7-14 to 1-9 winners over Queen’s University Belfast, while DCU Dóchas Éireann won their tie against TU Dublin 7-14 to 2-10.
There are plenty of local representatives on both sides of today’s final also.
It will be a special day in particular for the Needham family of Louisburgh, as Tara Needham lines out wearing 14 for DCU Dóchas Éireann while her sister Ciara will wear 8 for UL.
Elsewhere, Maria Reilly wears 11 for DCU from Kiltane, and the Sligo duo of Claire Dunne (St Farnan’s) and Jade Lyons (Shamrock Gaels) will wear 2 and 23 respectively.
On the UL side, they have plenty of Galway inclusions with Kilkerrin Clonbeirne’s Nicola Ward and Ailish Morrissey at 6 and 11.
Aoife Molloy from St Fursey’s wears 7 at left half back, with Tuam Cortoon’s Aoife O’Rourke wearing 13.
In the replacements, Tourlestrane and Sligo’s Sarah Cunney dons the number 18 shirt, as Ellen Power of Moycullen in Galway is named as 24, and Kate Nolan from St Brigid’s is the only Roscommon representative in the final wearing 28.
