The Connacht Indoor Championships for seniors and masters were held at Athlone TUS arena on (Saturday) evening February 25.
It was the final indoor championships of the season after Mayo County, National Masters and Seniors. Mayo AC athletes competed in them all.
The club had 8 athletes competing in Athlone among over 150 seniors and masters, including guests.
These indoor events (county, regional, and national) were a great opportunity for all those who train weekly at our two track sessions, and as part of the Mayo Training Group of sprinters.
The eight representatives in Athlone were rewarded with 2 gold and 6 silver individual medals, and gold in senior men’s 4x200m relay.
John Walkin 200m and Declan Owens 400m ran PBs.
A lot of hard work has been put in by these sprinters and middle distance runners and it paid off handsomely. Congratulations to all!
