Former Republic of Ireland youth international Sarah Rowe has joined Melbourne Victory in a bid to make the World Cup squad.

Ex Mayo ladies footballer Rowe has been playing Australian Rules football with Collingwood since moving Down Under.

The Ballina native, who has spent the last five seasons with AFLW side Collingwood, joins as a replacement for the injured Melina Ayres and will be available for Friday’s game with Perth Glory at AAMI Park.

The 27-year-old is a former Republic of Ireland international having earned an Irish senior cap in 2015 and was part of the Shelbourne side which won the League and Cup double in 2016.
