Galway footballer Áine McDonagh has become the second Irish woman to join newly formed AFLW club Hawthorn Hawks.
The Moycullen star broke onto the scene for Galway in 2018 as a half-forward before switching to midfield the following year, where they lost to Dublin in the All-Ireland final.
She also plays basketball with the NUIG Mystics and most recently won the Women’s Division One National Cup with the team.
McDonagh is the fourth Irish player currently at the club, joining Kilfian’s Aileen Gilroy as well as Conor Nash and Fionn O’Hara in the men’s programme.
