The phenomenal growth and interest in hurling in Mayo is reflected in Brian Finn's Mayo U20 hurling panel this year with no less than nine different Mayo GAA clubs represented for the first time ever. Finn announced his panel and captain this week for the upcoming All-Ireland U20B hurling campaign. Mayo face Donegal in the opening round of the championship on Saturday 2nd April in Ballina Stephenites. The championship has always been played on a straight knockout basis whereby once a team loses they are eliminated. The U20B championship is one of the few All-Ireland championships not to be run on a provincial basis. Meath are the current holders having beaten Derry in the 2021 final at Páirc Esler, Newry, on a 2-19 to 0-19 score line. The Mayo U20 hurlers will be captained by Ronan Tracey from the Castlebar Mitchels Hurling Club this year.
