Castlebar Community Games is a voluntary sporting and cultural organisation which has existed for decades in Castlebar. It has brought years of fun, enjoyment and lasting memories of friendship to all our children every year, along with medals and the experience of winning and losing as an individual or a team player.

A spokesman for the organisation has clearly stated that time is running out following a recent public meeting which was held on the 24th February 2022 and ended with nobody attending the meeting to register any interest in saving the games from closure.

The future of Castlebar Community Games now rests with a final appeal to  individuals, guardians, parents or interested people to step forward and form a working committee to keep the games alive in Castlebar.

There is a real danger the games will become non-existent if people fail to support the final rallying call for support.

A  final public meeting will take place on Thursday 7th April 2022 @ 7-30pm in the Ivy Tower Hotel Castlebar. Please support this meeting if you can help in any way to save the games. Hundreds of children who participate in the games would miss out on swimming, athletics, gaelic football, soccer, table tennis, draughts, handwriting, art / cultural / talent, model making, quiz, basketball, cycling, volleyball, badminton, rugby, tennis, gymnastics, pitch and putt, rounders, camogie, hurling, futsal, indoor soccer and so much more. Let's keep the games alive is the final call. Can you help out?. We can work together but not alone. We believe that every young person should have the opportunity to take part in sport and culture in their local community.
