Mayo’s Sarah Rowe of Collingwood is the AFLW IRISH PLAYER OF THE YEAR for Round 8 of the league.

It was back to winning ways this week for the Magpies & Sarah was at her usual best.

In a quick running handball game she was impressive throughout, gathering 19 Disposals & 5 Tackles.

Another Mayo woman took second place; North Melbourne’s “flying” half back Aileen Gilroy excelled despite the Kangaroos going down to Melbourne.

She had 15 Disposals including 14 of her trademark kicks.

McHale Rovers star Rachel Kearns was back with a second win for the season with Geelong & takes fourth place in the Top 5.

7 Tackles was the standout stat for Rachel who is loving the physical side of her new sport.

The fifth best Irish Player this Round has had some week. Carnacon legend Cora Staunton scored twice against Carlton despite the Greater Western Sydney Giants coming up short.

She also had 3 Goals in the deferred Round 5 game against St. Kilda played on Wednesday.
