Since the Pandemic began no sports were hampered more than indoor sports like volleyball. Our earlier progress with developing young players was disrupted for a considerable period of time.

However, Mayo Volleyball had plenty to be pleased about as the first underage blitz of the calendar year kicked off this weekend in the UL sports arena in Limerick. Along with their U15's team Mayo were able to enter their newly formed U10's team for the first ever time.

The Volleyball Ireland event hosted many clubs, Dalkey, Galway, Limerick, Clare, Ballymun and Cork.

Mayo Volleyball coach, Mikal O'Boyle said, "After a period of trainings it was great to finally give the girls a competitive match situation. My fellow coaches, Kevin Concannon, John James Fleming and I are delighted with the progress the young girls have shown. We get to see their improvements week on week in their trainings in Aughmore and Barnacarrol. It is great to see the girls have the opportunity to put their skills to use in a competitive setting against the best underage sides around the country."
