There's exciting news for Carne Golf Links in Belmullet, as it's been confirmed that the Irish PGA Championship is set to return to the north Mayo golf links, following its successful staging at Carne last year.
The 2021 event marked the official opening of the Wild Atlantic Dunes Course.
David Higgins from Waterville Golf Club won the €6,000 first prize last year - it was the second time he won the trophy and he'll be looking to make it a hat-trick of victories when this year's 54-hole tournament is contested from 18-20 August.
Once again, it will be sponsored by Columbia Sportswear, and will be preceded by a pro-am on the 17th August.
Gerry Maguire of Carne Golf Links says they're privileged and honoured to have been asked once again to host the Irish PGA Championship in 2022, and says the event is huge for the town of Belmullet and the wider Mayo region.
