Corofin have appointed Kevin Johnson as their new manager for the 2022 season.

Johnson guided Tourlestrane to success this year in his native Sligo after steering Ballintubber to two titles in Mayo.

He takes over from Kevin O’Brien, who stepped down after the Galway SFC final loss to Mountbellew-Moylough.

Johnson, who has lived in Galway for several years, has coached Salthill-Knocknacarra and Mountbellew-Moylough, along with a number of underage teams.

His father Denis guided Eastern Harps to four Sligo titles.

His cousin Paul Taylor played for the Yeats County for 14 years before taking over as senior manager for two seasons in 2018.
