Sligo GAA Chairman Seán Carroll believes smaller counties would benefit if Proposal B is adopted at Special Congress later this month.

Proposal B would see the All-Ireland Football Championship played on a league basis from next season.

Carroll says the Yeats County are likely to back that option as maintaining the "status quo would be disastrous" for weaker counties.

He added that a guaranteed seven Championship games would help to enhance the competition.
