As a mark of respect for the last Paddy Prendergast the Mayo flag is being flown at half mast at Hasting Insurance MacHale Park today.

The Ballintubber native passed away aged 95 over the weekend in County Kerry where he lived for most of his adult life.

He was a full-back on the last Mayo side to claim Sam Maguire honours when they beat Meath in Croke Park in 1951.

His funeral mass took place today in Kerry.
