Mícheál Donoghue has withdrawn from the race to become the next Galway hurling manager.
The 2017 All-Ireland winning boss was widely thought to be the frontrunner to succeed Shane O'Neill but No longer wishes to go forward in the process, according to the Irish Independent.
News of his withdrawal comes just days before Galway were expected to make an announcement on filling the position.
It is understood that Míchéal Donoghue was one of a three-man shortlist being considered by Galway.
It is unclear whether his apparent withdrawal will now delay the appointment or if it will open up the job for fresh candidates.
There's some speculation this morning that Davy Fitzgerald may now enter the race.
