Mayo came out with all two points from their Division 2 North opener against Down.
James Horan's men were comfortable winners on scoreline of 2-21 to 1-11 in stormy conditions.
The 2020 All-Ireland finalists were in the driving seat from the off and lead by 1-10 to 0-8 at halftime.
They now march on to round two of the league and a date with Westmeath next Saturday at 3pm in Mullingar.
James Horan was delighted with a lot of aspects of the Mayo performance.
