Mona McSharry is looking forward to competing at the Olympic games in Tokyo this summer.

The Sligo native achieved the OCT in the 100m breaststroke at the Irish National Team Trails in Dublin on Tuesday.

The US-based athlete broke her own Irish Record in the 200m breaststroke this weekend.

The 21-year-old shaved almost a second off her best time in the event on Friday and was just four tenths of a second from the Olympic Consideration Time (OCT) going into the semi-final heats, following a swim of 2:25.92.

Mona has been speaking to Midwest Radio's Michael D. McAndrew...

Meanwhile, in the finals of the MENS 200 METER BREASTSTROKE Castlebar's  Nicholas Quinn  came third in a time of 2:12.54

It was the exact same time as his semi-final, which he needed to improve for Olympic consideration.
