The start of Swim Ireland's National Team trials begins this morning, as competitors get the chance to meet qualification standards for summer competitions.

Places at the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games, the 2021 LEN European Championships in Budapest in May and July's LEN European Junior Championships in Rome are all on offer.

The opening day of action will see a number of Tokyo hopefuls in action in their main events.

The 100m breaststroke will see Sligo’s Mona McSharry aiming for a qualification time of 1:07.07.

McSharry is just three hundredths of a second outside of this mark with a best time of 1:07.10.

In the men's event, Castlebar’s Rio 2016 Olympian Nicholas Quinn will be vying for the second available spot after Darragh Greene secured the Olympic qualification time.

The action begins at the National Aquatic Centre with the heats from 10am and the finals get underway from 5.30pm.
